On March 15, 2021, ‘The 14th Five-Year Plan and the Outline of Long-Term Goals for 2035’ was officially announced, which proposed to strengthen original and leading science and technology, formulate and implement strategic scientific plans and scientific projects on the basis of national security and development. It is required to focus on the frontier fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum information, integrated circuits, life and health, brain science, biological breeding, aerospace science and technology, and implement a batch of forward-looking and strategic national major scientific projects, and finally realize related industries Independence.

The MEMS & GaN industry is rapidly growing in China and stimulated by government. Meanwhile MEMS & GaN are the frontier field of science and technology in ‘The 14th Five-Year Plan’,  and empowered with broad prospects for development.

The core businesses of Sai MicroElectronics are MEMS and GaN, and the company made forward-looking layout of these two businesses in 2015 and 2018. The MEMS process development and MEMS wafer manufacturing are the Competitiveness of Sai MicroElectronics, accounting for 88.85% of the operating revenue in 2020. In 2019, Silex ranked the first in the Ranking of Global MEMS foundry, surpassing TELEDYNE DALSA, Sony (SONY), TSMC (TSMC), X-FAB and other manufacturers. GaN epitaxial material growth and device design is the potential business of SMIC. It has mastered leading 8-inch silicon-based GaN epitaxy, 6-inch silicon carbide-based GaN epitaxial growth technology, and GaN power and microwave device design capabilities. Some of these products have been sequenced and put on the market.
