The 2018 China Geographic Information Industry Conference was held in Haikou from July 26 to 27. The conference was guided by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the People's Government of Hainan Province, and hosted by the China Geographic Information Industry Association. The report pointed out that China's geographic information industry continued to develop steadily in 2018 and changed to a high-quality direction. The total industrial output value is expected to exceed 620 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20%. As of the end of June 2018, the number of geographic information industry practitioners has exceeded 95000, of which surveying and mapping qualification units have exceeded 19000. The number of employees in the geographic information industry exceeds 1.17 million. Among them, more than 460000 people are employed in surveying and mapping qualification units. The
