According to the introduction, the unmanned distribution open platform released by Meituan aims to build a complete industrial ecological circle. It is the key link of unmanned distribution in the whole life cycle chain of "production, study, research and application" by opening up its own multiple scenes and capabilities, and jointly opening up the key link of unmanned distribution in the whole life cycle chain of "production, research and application" with unmanned driving technology, accelerate the development of unmanned distribution industry.
Wang Huiwen, co-founder and senior vice president of Meituan, said at the press conference that the development of Meituan's own business is the foundation of the open platform for unmanned distribution. At present, the daily maximum order for Meituan's take-out has reached 21 million orders, of which 70-80% are completed by Meituan. With the development of unmanned distribution technology, some orders for US takeout can be completed by unmanned, distribution costs and efficiency will be improved. Of course, there are still many scenarios that are temporarily difficult to solve with the current unmanned distribution technology. At the same time, these orders are distributed in 2800 counties and cities across the country. It is necessary to consider how many orders can be delivered every day within the operating range of each vehicle, and the fixed investment and operating costs and benefits of each vehicle. Therefore, objectively speaking, the direction and trend of unmanned distribution is no problem, but it will also go through three different stages, namely, laboratory stage, mass production stage and large-scale profit stage. On the day of the
event, in addition to the "small bag" of unmanned vehicles that have been put into trial operation, the new concept vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles of the US group also made their debut. Among them, the new concept car adopts L4 level automatic driving technology, uses laser radar, ultrasonic wave, camera and other multi-sensor fusion schemes, and has the traffic capacity of low-speed automatic driving on urban roads. In addition, the unmanned vehicles of the open platform partners also appeared on the scene on the same day, including Youdi, Segway distribution robots, wise walker-worm Ω, Roadstar, AutoX, Shenlan Technology-Tom Ge. The service scope of these unmanned vehicles covers many daily life service scenes such as hotels, restaurants, hospitals, etc.
According to the introduction, since March 2018, Meituan's unmanned distribution open platform has completed the B- end test operation in Chaoyang Joy City and the C- end trial operation of Shenzhen Lenovo Building, and has realized the complete closed-loop operation from B- end to C- end in Shanghai Songjiang University City. Up to now, in Songjiang University City, the number of US group take-out orders delivered by unmanned vehicles has exceeded 1000 orders/day, which also confirms the feasibility of US group's unmanned distribution open platform for large-scale operation in the area.
