Sellex Beijing sets up Swedish offshore innovation center

At the launch ceremony of the first batch of Beijing Yizhuang Offshore Innovation Center, Sailex Microsystems Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Selex Beijing was registered and established in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone in December 2015. It is a project company jointly invested and established by Beijing Sai Microelectronics Co., Ltd. and the National Integrated Circuit Industry Fund. Its main business is MEMS wafer manufacturing and process development.

In 2016, Sai Microelectronics completed its wholly-owned acquisition of Sweden's Silex, a leading international MEMS foundry company, and also has a mature factory, talent technology and market support platform in the MEMS business sector. Based on the strategic layout of MEMS business of SELEX Microelectronics, SELEX Beijing has rich resources such as major special achievements and project accumulation, international advanced MEMS foundry technology, management technology and management team at the beginning of its establishment, which also provides a solid foundation for SELEX Beijing to build an 8-inch MEMS international foundry line representing the industry's leading level.

This production line represents the advanced level and large-scale production capacity in the global MEMS field. After being fully completed and put into production, it will form a production capacity of 8-inch MEMS wafers of 30000 wafers per month, which will provide mature technical support and capacity guarantee for the research and development and mass production of global MEMS products.

Sweden Silex is located in Stockholm. Since its establishment in 2000, it has been focusing on the process development and wafer manufacturing of MEMS chips. According to the 2019 data of Yole Development, the world's authoritative semiconductor market research institution, Sweden's Silex ranks first in global MEMS wafer foundry, with TELEDYNE DALSA, Sony (SONY), TSMC (TSMC) and X-FAB ranking second to fifth respectively. Silex recorded the highest growth rate in the industry in 2019 among the world's leading MEMS wafer foundries.

The establishment of the Swedish Offshore Innovation Center by Selex will help to further promote the technical, personnel, market exchange and industrial cooperation between Selex-Beijing and the Swedish Brothers, accelerate the digestion and absorption of foreign advanced technologies, and promote the transformation and application of relevant technological achievements. The MEMS core technology and management team owned by Selex Microelectronics has a deep industry accumulation, it will also be brought into full play through the Cyex-Beijing scale mass production process platform, and the industry's leading competitive advantage will be conducive to the further construction of technology and capacity barriers in the MEMS field, and continue to maintain the company's global leading position in the MEMS field.
